The Dirty Projectors [An Anecdotal Retrospective, 2006-2009]

The first time I saw The Dirty Projectors in concert was back in 2006. Suffice it to say, it will remain a favorite life experience to have seen the band at a bar with less than 30 people in attendance. They were very friendly at the merch booth. This was right after the New Attitude EP and a few years before Bitte Orca. I listened to New Attitude on vinyl the rest of that night.
To celebrate the leaps by this band since then, here are some highlights of those two releases. The overall production has improved heavily since New Attitude, but the same timing, guitar-picking, incessant rests, vocals in constant pounce, and energetic field are in place. Try some of the older mp3’s from New Attitude if you want to see a more youthful, raw version of The Dirty Projectors.

Bitte Orca

Track 6. Useful Chamber
Track 7. No Intention

New Attitude EP

Track 1. Fucked For Life
Track 3. Imagine It
