Album Under Review: Ron Sexmith - Long Player Late Bloomer
Ron Sexmith turned 47 years old this past January. His new album is aptly titled Long Player Late Bloomer. Wonder which songs will be covered by future artists? I took a stab at my four, with mp3’s below. The album’s country jangle wears thin, but the lyricism, when the focus, makes Sexmith’s instrumental choices more bearable. STANDOUT TRACK: “Get In Line” is a ballad largely written in A/B/A/B rhyme scheme, with a chorus tying it intogether. Sexmith still excels at cliché love songs with a twist of genius, as evidenced in the second two tracks. The –half title track is a right pick for certain.
Long Player Later Bloomer
Track 1. Get In Line
Track 6. Late Bloomer
Track 7. Heavenly
Track 9. Middle of Love
